Abstract

The own power generation is economically attractive in companies who need continuous supply, which cannot be stopped by cause irreparable losses (where even returning the energy the losses is already inevitable) in production, such as chicks production units. Once perceived this need companies expend large sums of money to acquire the power generation system that normally works with diesel. Companies with flexibility on hiring demand and consumption by specific times of the day (peak and off-tip) can opt for the use of own generation where the cost-benefit is feasible. In periods of drought and energy crisis, when the value of energy increases, it becomes attractive to companies use this option. This study verified the cost benefit of using generators run on diesel, at peak hours, in unit of producing chicks , verifying be feasible to use the GMG at peak hours while the company remains in the green horosazonal tariff option, which is the more attractive for the company considering the current consumption profile.
