Abstract: | It is possible to notice along the industrial petroleum environment, an evolution in the growth of oil extraction, where the presence of water in large quantities in the oil wells at the end of life has made the studies of the oil-water flows in horizontal pipes increase, and gain more visibility for future research. The objective of this work is to study the behavior of the simultaneous flow of oil and water in horizontal tubes. In this context, the transient numerical simulations of the dispersed two-phase flow in one 15 meter long tube were performed using the commercial CFD ANSYS Fluent 15 package, where the multiphase mixing model was used for resolution and analysis. The numerical results are presented and discussed in terms of phase distribution profiles, their velocities and the interactive concentrations of oil and water. The results obtained in this work were found to be good qualitative and quantitative agreement with the previous experimental results available in the literature, where the simulations were compared with the theoretical resolutions of the current literature. Specifically for a dispersed biphasic model, due to the lack of theoretical approach, both divergent and convergent comparisons are obtained depending on the slip condition used in the simulations. |
