A água e o PPG propiciaram maior redução do CE.
Abstract: Although there is little information about beet seeds, it is known that the germination of the beet occurs slowly and irregularly. Its leaves present great potential to integrate the mix of leaves of the type baby leaf, a class of short cycle baby leaf, that need a better germination rate as well as homogenization and synchrony in the establishment of its seedlings. The viable alternative to standardize twinning has been the use of physiological seed conditioning. The objective of this study was to evaluate the germination percentage (PG), germination rate (IVG), germination rate (VG), percentage of germination after accelerated aging in saline solution (ESSA) and conductivity (EC) of beet seeds in response to water and osmotic conditioning. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a factorial scheme (4 x 7). The factors consisted of four different conditioning treatments, namely H2O and KNO3 solutions, PG 6000 in addition to the unpublished test of the solute PPG, all at -1.1MPa for 0, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 and 48 hours, plus an additional hybrid control without any treatment for comparison purposes. It was verified that the hydro priming and osmo priming with PPG and KNO3, obtained the same performance in the variables PG, IVG and VG. The PG (with about 96% germination), IVG (mean of 36) and GV (48 hours) were effective. Seeds treated with water and KNO3 were more resistant to ESSA. Water and PPG led to a further reduction of EC. The recommended imbibition periods are for H2O between 24 and 28 hours, for KNO3 between 32 and 48 hours and for PPG between 32 and 44 hours. PEG is not recommended for the treatment of beet seed at - 1.1 MPa at 25 ° C, being inferior to all the treatments used.
