Complexo Capanema: proposta de requalificação urbana

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to support an urban requalification proposal of a specific area of Jardim Botânico’s neighbourhood, in the city of Curitiba, through the implantation of an architectonic complex idealized as a park and equipment dedicated to sports and leisure. It is assumed that when established a new use and inserted elements that encourage different forms of appropriation of the urban space the area of interest will recover the vitality lost because of the degradation and underuse of its physical environment. In order to understand the current spatial configuration of the area the first stage of the research was dedicated to the collection of data about the history of its urban development, as in a way to identify the origin of the residual spaces existent. After this point, the most relevant conceptual topics and case studies were presented to construct a theoretical framework. Finally, it was carried out a more specific diagnosis of the urban problems and the collected material was analysed for the definition of the project guidelines and strategies.
