Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate how the trophic structure of individuals of the fish species Hypostomus ancistroides (catfish) is affected along the urbanization-agriculture gradient in three streams in the region of Londrina-PR, correlating with intraspecific changes in ecomorphology, for check whether this structure can be used as an indicator of environmental quality. To this end, 60 individuals collected between the years 2013 and 2016 in Ribeirões Cambé (urban), Cafezal (periurban) and Taquara (rural) were evaluated. The fish were collected by manual and electric fishing, with a sampling effort of 40 minutes each, fixed in 10% formalin and preserved in 70% alcohol. Collections were carried out quarterly, in order to cover the four seasons of the year, in three sampling points in each stream, totaling nine sampling points. In the laboratory, after being identified, the 20 largest individuals of Hypostomus ancistroides in each stream were selected. In order to investigate the ecomorphological patterns, 26 ecomorphological indices were calculated, later summarized by principal component analysis (PCA), to assess whether the differences between the streams were significant, the ANOVA statistical analysis was performed. To analyze the trophic structure, the individuals were opened and had the first third of the digestive tract analyzed. For each item found, the frequency of occurrence (FO), numerical frequency (FN) and volumetric frequency (FV) were calculated, which make up the Index of Relative Importance (IRI), as well as the Food Index (IAI). To verify variations in the eating habits of the species under study, the Detented Correspondence Analysis (DCA) was applied on the relative importance indices (IRI). The abiotic parameters of the streams were measured locally, namely: width, depth, water velocity, flow, pH, electrical conductivity. In relation to the objectives, the results were significant, the three streams presented differences among themselves, for the axis 1 of the PCA, (p=0.03). There was a preference for debris in Ribeirão Cambé, as well as the presence of bioindicator larvae of strong environmental stress, and in the Cafezal and Taquara streams the predominance was filamentous algae. Therefore, there were differences between the specimens of Hypostomus ancistroides between the streams analyzed, in Cambé (urban) they had a body more adapted to braking, due to the smaller spatial size of the niche, while in Taquara (rural) they had a larger mouth, associated with the greater consumption of algae and richer habitat, and in Cafezal (periurban) the morphology was more similar to individuals from Cambé, but the diet was more similar to individuals from Taquara, confirming the intermediate position between the urbanization-agriculture gradient.
